SDA Interfaith Involvement

This article responds to comments and questions that seek clarity and validity on SDA involvement in the RCC and its organizations.

This posting is for awareness and does not intentionally seek to attack any person or denomination. Please forgive me if you feel slighted or attacked as I present factual truths that I believe are undeniable.

My loyalty and commitment unto the Lord as a watchman is not to judge but to declare and safeguard in love, the truths He has given to His remnant church, so that none would subtly be led astray from the faith and from the purity of God's Word and inspired counsel.

Some Adventists will say, “We aren’t uniting** with the Jesuits. We are just trying to give a Seventh-day Adventists perspective on these issues.” The truth is that they are “Global Partners.” On October 16-19, 2018 the Jesuits hosted a conference for their “Global Partners” at their headquarters in Rome. Seventh-day Adventists were in attendance because they have become “Global Partners” with Protestants, Catholics and even with the Jesuit Order. Anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant of the facts or misled or being deceitful and dishonest or perhaps one chooses to look the other way.

**uniting means come or bring together for a common purpose or action.

“Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power” (Maranatha, p. 216)

In the recent past Methodists, Roman Catholics and Seventh-day Adventists held hands during an ecumenical prayer vigil in Cremona, Italy. These men locked hands in public in a show of unity and solidarity in Northern Italy.

This news item, was not largely made available by any Seventh-day Adventist news outlet. It was the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cremona who published this photo (see link below) and reported that this event was an “ecumenical prayer vigil to celebrate Christian unity.”

Seventh-day Adventists were not raised up as a people to grasp the hand of Romanism. We were raised up to give a very special warning message to the world. What is that startling message that God has commissioned us to preach? It is the Three Angels’ Message found in Revelation 14:6-12. These messages need to be heard in every Adventist pulpit and in every Adventist church around the world more than ever before.

There is a great urgency for God’s people to move forward with these special messages because the whole world is wondering after the beast in search for unity. Many are abandoning our distinctive, end-time messages for the sake of “grasping” the hand of Rome.

Today, the entire religious world is wondering after the beast (Revelation 13:3). Pope Francis has declared, "The reformation is over." Protestants no longer protest the abominations and drunkenness of this beast power. Martin Luther, John Calvin, Huss and Jerome and all the founders of the Protestant movement were clear in the identity of this dangerous power. They all understood that it was essential to separate from the fellowship of Rome in order to preserve the purity of the gospel and to fulfill their God-given mission.

Sadly, the Reformers have abandoned their protest and have been reaching across the gulf to grasp the hand of Rome. It is because of this apostasy that God has raised up the Seventh-day Adventist people to reform the Reformation. The Three Angels’ Message is a Reformation message. Tragically, many of our own people are also embracing Romanism. This has lead to the abandonment of our distinctive mission and message in many churches.

Many pastors and leaders have been trying to foster peace with all the different religious faiths around the world when they should be giving the straight testimony. The straight testimony of the Third Angel would startle the world and awaken them up to what is really going on. Failure in giving this warning is causing us to lose the power of the Three Angels’ Message. These great pillars of our faith are being increasingly removed and replaced with the same watered-down message that Rome and the Evangelical churches are preaching. This is where we are at today.

To any concerned, faithful Seventh-day Adventist – Ellen White has stated that “the Lord Himself will call men, as of old He called the humble fishermen, and will Himself give them the education He desires them to have. He will call men from the plow and from other occupations to give the last note of warning to perishing souls” (Publishing Ministry, p. 278).

God Himself will have to call and train workers after His own order to give the last warning message to the world. Why? Because many of our pastors and leaders have become members in these ecumenical organizations. And as long as they remain part of those interfaith associations, they cannot preach our distinctive doctrines among them, including the Sabbath truth.

There is nothing wrong with trying to live in peace and harmony with others, but these interfaith gatherings are creating a counterfeit unity by stripping away all of the unique truths of the faith. True Christians will always seek to live in peace with people, but never at the expense of Biblical truth.

Love that is not truthful or Biblical can never lead to true unity in Christ. And a unity that embraces falsehoods is actually enabling them to clasp hands with worldwide faiths.

The great interfaith deception which is leading the whole world back to Rome is being met with approval.

The handwriting is on the wall. The evidence is validated. The Vatican has affirmed its duty and role to lead out in bringing changes to our world, and these changes will come about when all the churches unite together as one. We can clearly see Revelation 13 and Revelation 17 starting to take shape as Rome is busy fulfilling its prophetic role.

“I was shown the necessity of those who believe that we are having the last message of mercy, being separate from those who are daily imbibing new errors. I saw that neither young nor old should attend their meetings; for it is wrong to thus encourage them while they teach error that is a deadly poison to the soul and teach for doctrines the commandments of men” (Early Writings, p. 124).

“How the Roman church can clear herself from the charge of idolatry we cannot see…. And this is the religion which Protestants are beginning to look upon with so much favor, and which will eventually be united with Protestantism. This union will not, however, be effected by a change in Catholicism, for Rome never changes. She claims infallibility. It is Protestantism that will change. The adoption of liberal ideas on its part will bring it where it can clasp the hand of Catholicism” (Last Day Events, p. 130).

The purpose of ecumenism is to bring everyone under the primacy of the papacy. Where violence and terrorism failed, interfaith cooperation and interreligious dialog is causing the world to change its views about Rome and to embrace her as honorable and respectable.

Many pastors have been trained to think ecumenically. Whenever Seventh-day Adventists downplay their distinctive beliefs and just focus on the points of doctrine which everyone else believes in – this is called ecumenism. This will result in the loss of souls, including our own.

We are to give to the people the warnings contained in Revelation. But many workers are engaged in a line of work that is disqualifying them to preach the word and do the very work God has appointed them to do. The truth in regard to the Sabbath of the Lord is to be proclaimed. The Seventh-day is to be shown to be the seal of the living God. People are to be shown what they may expect from the papal power. The time has come when the Protestant churches are reaching out to grasp the hand of the power that has made void the law of God.... (MR Vol.4, pg.425)

Throughout history, the Roman Catholic Church has sought to bring the entire religious world under her power and influence. This is no secret. No longer able to openly force people to submit to its popes under the threat of death and persecution, the Vatican has changed its strategy to win the world over to her side. Since the close of the Vatican II Council of 1965, the Roman Catholic Church is now urging all faiths to come back home to her. Whether it is through social justice, ecumenical dialog or interfaith cooperation, Rome is taking a reconciliatory course to work hand in hand with other churches and to seduce our very own people.

Rome is using a wide range of social, secular, leftist, political and revolutionary causes to unite all the churches under her authority.

We cannot unite with these men who have attempted to change the moral law of God and who are promoting a spurious Sabbath:

“The leaders of the Sunday movement may advocate reforms which the people need, principles which are in harmony with the Bible; yet while there is with these a requirement which is contrary to God’s law, His servants cannot unite with them. Nothing can justify them in setting aside the commandments of God for the precepts of men” (Great Controversy, p. 587).

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. {Rev 18:4}.

Please pray for all our SDA Conferences, leaders, and members to be faithful to God's Word and inspired counsel.

In GC 576-577, "we are to make no 'personal' thrusts at other churches.

...[but we are to] SPEAK THE TRUTH IN TONES AND WORDS OF LOVE." (emphasis added). (EV. 576)

“Our work is to proclaim to the world the first, second, and third angels’ messages. In the discharge of our duties we are neither to despise nor to fear our enemies…We are to treat with kindness and courtesy those who refuse to be loyal to God, but we are never, never to unite with them” (Testimonies, Vol. 7, p. 107, 108).

Romanism is now regarded by Protestants with far greater favor than in former years. In those countries where Catholicism is not in the ascendancy, and the papists are taking a conciliatory course in order to gain influence, there is an increasing indifference concerning the doctrines that separate the reformed churches from the papal hierarchy; the opinion is gaining ground that, after all, we do not differ so widely upon vital points as has been supposed, and that a little concession on our part will bring us into a better understanding with Rome. The time was when Protestants placed a high value upon the liberty of conscience which had been so dearly purchased. They taught their children to abhor popery and held that to seek harmony with Rome would be disloyalty to God. But how widely different are the sentiments now expressed! (GC 563.1)

The Lord has pronounced a curse upon those who take from or add to the Scriptures. The great I AM has decided what shall constitute the rule of faith and doctrine, and he has designed that the Bible shall be a household book. The church that holds to the word of God is irreconcilably separated from Rome. Protestants were once thus apart from this great church of apostasy, but they have approached more nearly to her, and are still in the path of reconciliation to the Church of Rome. Rome never changes. Her principles have not altered in the least. She has not lessened the breach between herself and Protestants; they have done all the advancing. But what does this argue for the Protestantism of this day? It is the rejection of Bible truth which makes men approach to infidelity. It is a backsliding church that lessens the distance between itself and the Papacy. (ST Feb. 19, 1894)

"I was shown the necessity of those who believe that we are having the last message of mercy, being separate from those who are daily imbibing new errors. I saw that neither young nor old should attend their meetings; for it is wrong to thus encourage them while they teach error that is a deadly poison to the soul and teach for doctrines the commandments of men. The influence of such gatherings is not good. If God has delivered us from such darkness and error, we should stand fast in the liberty wherewith He has set us free and rejoice in the truth. God is displeased with us when we go to listen to error, without being obliged to go; for unless He sends us to those meetings where error is forced home to the people by the power of the will, He will not keep us. The angels cease their watchful care over us, and we are left to the buffetings of the enemy, to be darkened and weakened by him and the power of his evil angels; and the light around us becomes contaminated with the darkness." (E.White, Early Writings, p.124)

Psalm 94:20-21

[20]Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? [21] They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18

[14]Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? [15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? [16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them ; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. [17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing ; and I will receive you, [18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

But there is no union between the Prince of light and the prince of darkness, and there can be no union between their followers. When Christians consented to unite with those who were but half converted from paganism, they entered upon a path which led further and further from the truth. Satan exulted that he had succeeded in deceiving so large a number of the followers of Christ. He then brought his power to bear more fully upon these, and inspired them to persecute those who remained true to God. None understood so well how to oppose the true Christian faith as did those who had once been its defenders; and these apostate Christians, uniting with their half-pagan companions, directed their warfare against the most essential features of the doctrines of Christ.

It required a desperate struggle for those who would be faithful to stand firm against the deceptions and abominations which were disguised in sacerdotal garments and introduced into the church. The Bible was not accepted as the standard of faith. The doctrine of religious freedom was termed heresy, and its upholders were hated and proscribed.

After a long and severe conflict, the faithful few decided to dissolve all union with the apostate church if she still refused to free herself from falsehood and idolatry. They saw that separation was an absolute necessity if they would obey the word of God. They dared not tolerate errors fatal to their own souls, and set an example which would imperil the faith of their children and children's children. To secure peace and unity they were ready to make any concession consistent with fidelity to God; but they felt that even peace would be too dearly purchased at the sacrifice of principle. If unity could be secured only by the compromise of truth and righteousness, then let there be difference, and even war.
