Having given Jesus, the great Gift, God gave all heaven with Him. Godโ€™s workmen must be refined and purified by test and trial. All corrupting ideas, all selfish grasping, irrespective of otherโ€™s needs, must be cut away. Selfishness must be rooted out of every practice, for it will corrupt the whole man and defile everything it touches. The truth of God in the soul will make a man a laborer together with God. Sanctification is Godโ€™s purpose in all His dealings with His people. He has chosen them from eternity, so that they can be holy. I have more to say, but, for want of time, I cannot say it all now. Let me say to you, my son, present the truth to all with whom you come in contact. Tell them of the great and measureless gift of the Holy Spirit. In it is contained all of heavenโ€™s resources. It is not because of any restriction and narrow calculation on the part of God that the riches of His grace do not flow earthward to men. If all were willing to receive, all would become filled with His Spirit. God gave with a liberality that men do not appreciate, because they do not love to receive. Tell them how Godlike is His gift. The mission of the two anointed ones is to communicate to Godโ€™s people that heavenly grace which alone can make His Word a lamp to the feet and a light to the path. This is the evident meaning of His own explanation of His departure to the Father: โ€œNow I go unto Him that sent Me; and none of you asketh Me, Whither goest Thou? But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send Him unto you.โ€ John 16:5-7. Explanations and arguments are not required here. The simple fact is evident. The sending of the Comforter was a step in advance.ย  ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐’๐ฉ๐ข๐ซ๐ข๐ญ, would be better for His disciples, and for us, than His presence in the flesh. The sacrifice of Christ, so far as this world is concerned, dates from the foundation of the world. This is more fully stated in the Saviourโ€™s last talk with His disciples (John 14:16-23), before His death. In the plan of restoring in men the divine image, it was provided that the Holy Spirit should move upon human minds, and be as the presence of Christ, a molding agency upon human character. Receiving the truth, men become also recipients of the grace of Christ, and devote their sanctified human ability to the work in which Christ was engaged,โ€”men become laborers together with God. It is to make men agents for God, that divine truth is brought home to their understanding. But I would inquire of the church, Have you answered this purpose? Have you fulfilled the design of God in diffusing the light of divine truth, in scattering abroad the precious jewels of truth?

RH Feb. 12, 1895.5

โ€œAnd the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.โ€ โ€œAnd he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them.โ€ โ€œAnd Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.โ€ [Luke 2:40, 51, 52.] Let the brightest example the world has yet seen be your example, rather than the greatest and most learned men of this age, who know not God, nor Jesus Christ whom He has sent. Jehovah, our Father, and His Son Jesus Christ are alone to be exalted. The knowledge of God is eternal life to those who receive it. His holy banner is to stand elevated above all the greatness of the greatest men, above all the honor and glory of the world.

13LtMs, Ms11, 1898.11

The great Creator assembled the heavenly host, that he might in the presence of all the angels confer special honor upon his Son. The Son was seated on the throne with the Father, and the heavenly throng of holy angels was gathered around them. The Father then made known that it was ordained by himself that Christ, his Son, should be equal with himself; so that wherever was the presence of his Son, it was as his own presence. The word of the Son was to be obeyed as readily as the word of the Father. His Son he had invested with authority to command the heavenly host. Especially was his Son to work in union with himself in the anticipated creation of the earth and every living thing that should exist upon the earth. His Son would carry out his will and his purposes, but would do nothing of himself alone. The Father's will would be fulfilled in him.

1SP 17.2

All that it meant to have Christ come in his Fatherโ€™s name, to manifest his Fatherโ€™s name as one in whom the Fatherโ€™s name was, it means to have the Holy Ghost come in Christโ€™s name, to declare his name, to manifest his name, to represent him; and just as Christ was on the earth as the representative of the Father, so the Holy Spirit is in the earth to represent Christ. In representing Christ it is representing God, because it is God in Christ, and because it is Christโ€™s will to do his Fatherโ€™s will continually. It is not a separate interest, but the Holy Spirit comes to represent Christ and to do continually his work, which was to represent his Father. So the work to be done now is the same as the work then, โ€” to bring the character of God back to the earth, and to show the character of God in human flesh; and that work is to go on in us that the character of God may be represented to the world in us by his indwelling Spirit, just as it was represented in Christ Jesus. And Christโ€™s work of giving himself, the sacrifice of himself for us, is going forward now, and in giving us the Holy Spirit continually, he is giving himself, because he says, โ€œI will love him and will manifest myself to him.โ€ โ€œYet a little while, and the world seeth me no more, but ye see me; because I live ye shall live also. In that day ye shall know that I am in the Father, and ye in me, and I in you.โ€ That complete union by which we, and Christ, and the Father are brought into union of life is accomplished by the Spirit. The Spirit which is to be sent is the Spirit of truth, and it is the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ, and it is the Spirit of God. That is what binds God the Father and Christ his son and their followers together in one. It is more than can be done by that sort of persuasion which brings one mind into harmony with another; it is not merely agreement in sentiment, but union of life. And that union of life is by the power of the Holy Spirit. This was Christโ€™s prayer: โ€œNeither pray I for these alone, but for them also, which shall believe on me through their word. That they may all be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.โ€ And that is made possible by the interflow of life between them. So Christ was in the Father, and the Father in him by this interflow of life, and his desire is, โ€œas thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us.โ€ GCB December 1895, page 634.1

The testimony to the divinity of the character of Christ, to the work of Jesus Christ on earth, is in the lives of his followers. The convincing power of the Christian life is what is done for the followers of Jesus Christ, is what Christ does in his followers. That is what makes real to the world the claims of Christianity. Christ is the one who mediates between God and us. By his taking our human flesh and standing between humanity and divinity as a union of humanity and divinity, he becomes the way, the channel through which God dwells in us by his Holy Spirit. God dwells in Christ by his Holy Spirit, and Christ by taking humanity, connected humanity with divinity in himself, so that when we become connected with Christ, we become connected with a humanity in which dwells divinity. With this connection between us and Christ, that divine power can dwell in us. Christ came in the flesh in order that there might be divine power for us. When man sinned, he cut himself off from this power, but Christโ€™s work was to make it possible that that divine power might come again to him. GCB December 1895, page 634.2

Do not be afraid of believing that Christ means exactly what he says, and that everything set forth in the Scriptures is for each one of us personally. It does not avail for us to see that Christ intended it for us, but it is necessary for us to grasp it as ours by living faith. When we see that it is Godโ€™s plan, we are to believe that it is so, rejoice and be glad, and give thanks that it is so, and grasp that very power and life by faith in the promises of God; and we are to submit ourselves to the power and work of God. This experience will take out of our lives all cheapness and commonness, all lightness and trifling. It will bring a new dignity into our lives, when we really believe that Jesus Christ actually lives in us and that it is his power that works in us to work out the character of God. That life means something. If we constantly look to him, then we may believe that it is God that is working in us, and so our lives may be to his glory in representing the character of Christ, and representing the character of God in Christ in the daily experience of our lives. The words which we speak will not be our own words, the works which we work will not be our own works. Jesus Christ will work in us, glorifying his own name continually. That is the work of the Holy Spirit as shown in the life of Jesus Christ. GCB December 1895, page 634.3

โ€œWhat? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God?โ€ โ€œKnow ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?โ€ When the Spirit of God dwells in us, we are the temple of God, because it is God dwelling in us by his Spirit. โ€œAnd ye are not your own.โ€ Our bodies are not our own with which to express our own character, but our bodies are for the Holy Spirit to use with which to work out and express Godโ€™s character. โ€œYe are not your own.โ€ The body is not ours to use; it is Godโ€™s to use by the Holy Spirit. GCB December 1895, page 635.1

โ€œAnd what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.โ€ God wants to dwell in us. Shall we refuse him admittance, and set up idols in his place? โ€œThou shalt have no other gods before me.โ€ โ€œKnow ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?โ€ This is the same thing which is set forth by the prophet Isaiah: โ€œFor thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive [to give new life to] the spirit of the humble, and to revive [to give new life to] the heart of the contrite ones.โ€ It is Godโ€™s eternal purpose in Jesus Christ that this should be so. GCB December 1895, page 635.2

But let us read the scripture further: โ€œBut ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness.โ€ By reading that verse carefully, it becomes evident that the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, and Christ are made identical. When the Spirit of God dwells in us, that is the Spirit of Christ, it is Christ himself in us. โ€œBut if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal [death-doomed] bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.โ€ As that Spirit gave life to Christ who was dead, so that Spirit coming upon us, will quicken us and give us new life, and raise us up to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. โ€œTherefore brethren [observe the conclusion], we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh ye shall die, but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.โ€ That is to say, the Holy Spirit, Christ dwelling in us, is to be the power that overcomes these evil traits, these evil habits in us, and puts to death these deeds of the body. GCB December 1895, page 635.3

The same thought is brought out in another scripture: โ€œAnd they that are Christโ€™s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.โ€ God has given us his Spirit, and the power of Christ is to work in us. If we live after the flesh we shall surely die, but if we live after the Spirit, we shall put to death the deeds of the flesh; we shall live, but it is Christ living in us. GCB December 1895, page 635.4

We are now in the time of the latter rain, and we are told to pray for the Spirit of God, for the power of the Spirit. This means the fulness of the indwelling Christ. The image of God, as shown in Jesus Christ, is to be perfected in those that are prepared for translation just before the second coming of Christ to receive his own, who bear fully his image. There must be at that time the fulness of the indwelling Christ, and Christ must be all and in all. He must be all there is in every one. There must be none of self. Is means the complete death of self, and the fulness of the indwelling Saviour.

GCB Dec. 1895, 634.1 through 635.5

HAS the Lord given, I may rather say lent you a portion of his earth? for โ€œthe earth is the Lordโ€™s and the fullness thereof,โ€ Ps. And while many generations have successively occupied it, it has all the time been his, and at his disposal. You, now, dear friends, have your position in the human family. God has seen fit to place your life away down here in the last generation of probationers, and has entrusted to you a worldly possession, which one after another has called mine, and left; just as shadows possess some particular spot successive days. Do those broad acres never look good to you? and do you never look upon your beautiful dwelling, and feel an emotion similar to Nebuchadnezzarโ€™s when he said, โ€œIs not this great Babylon that I have built by the might of my powerโ€ etc., while you do not wait to realize that your life is like โ€œthe flower of the grass,โ€ and the earth you possess doomed to desolation and the flames? You who profess to believe the time near when Jesus shall come to call us all to an account of our stewardship, are you willing to give him the wealth that so charms you, and is thus enslaving your very soul? Oh will you, just as long as you can, cling to a lent treasure, and lose a portion you might secure for an everlasting possession? Perhaps you have silenced conscience by thinking it perfectly right to keep your property, provided you do not set your affections upon it. It seems to me a thought like this should be evidence enough that your heart is already upon it. Where your treasure is there will your heart be also; and if you scrupulously keep your treasure here, your heart must be here also. It may be you have been reserving your wealth for your children. Why dear brother, of what possible benefit will it be to them in a little from this? God will take care of your childrensโ€™ future necessities if they with you will give your means as he calls for it through the wants of his cause and the poor around you. Will you love your children better than your Saviour, and a treasure in heaven? For what you give to the Lord here is placed to your account in heaven. โ€œMake to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness.โ€ How? By using this mammon, i.e., our wealth in a way of which God can approve, and thus secure the friendship of the Father and Son, who alone are able to receive us into โ€œeverlasting habitations.โ€ ARSH Aug.18, 1859, pg.100.23

Those who are thus striving for salvation, have not fallen from grace!! They are not justified by the law nor do they sacrilegiously make it void through pretended faith. Those thus redeemed by the blood of Christ, constitute the church of the New Testament. The ordinances of Christ belong to these alone and in no sense to the world. It is the law of God that leads men to repent - it is the gospel that offers them pardon through Jesus Christ. Their relation to each other as members of the church of Christ, and to Christ as their Lord, is defined by that which Christ and his apostles have said. Their relation to God the Father and to their fellow men, as such, is defined by the law of God. We desire both โ€œthe Son and the Father,โ€ - the commandments of God, AND the testimony of Jesus Christ. Amen. ARSH Feb.17, 1852, pg.92.7

That is apparently, but not really, an argument. They who speak thus seem to forget the teachings of the New Testament, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself.โ€ 2 Corinthians 5:19. โ€œFor God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.โ€ John 3:16. And again Jesus said: โ€œMy doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.โ€ โ€œHe that sent me is with me; the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.โ€ โ€œThe words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself; but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.โ€ John 7:16; 8:29; 14:10. God hath indeed spoken unto us in these last days, but it is โ€œby his Son.โ€ Hebrews 1:1, 2. It is very true, โ€œthat God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.โ€ 1 John 5:11. The Son comes in the name of the Father; he represents the Father to the world; he accomplishes the will and purpose of the Father in redemption. As Christ is the Son of God, and the only representative of the Father, it could not be considered strange that he should bear the name and title of his father; โ€œfor it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell.โ€ Colossians 1:19. But the Son is not the Father; and therefore it cannot be that Christ is Jehovah, but was sent of Jehovah to do his will and work, and to make known the counsels of his grace. AERS 172.1

The Father and the Son are one. John 10:30. Both are worthy of worship. God alone may be worshiped (Revelation 22:8, 9), but Christ did not refuse the adoration of his disciples. Luke 24:52. We are not called upon to explain the mystery of godliness, nor expected to understand it, but Christ has explained to us how he and the Father are one. In his memorable prayer for his disciples, he said: โ€œHoly Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are one.โ€ โ€œAnd the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one even as we are one.โ€ John 17:11, 22. This oneness, then, is that of two distinct individuals having the same thoughts, the same purposes, the same attributes. The Father and the Son were one in creating the earth, and one in the devising and carrying out of the plan of salvation. They never worked at cross purposes; and in harmony with Christโ€™s prayer that union may exist among his disciples, Paul exhorts us to โ€œall speak the same thing,โ€ and to โ€œbe perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.โ€ 1 Corinthians 1:10. SITI June 19, 1884, pg.377.5

God alone is without beginning. At the earliest epoch when a beginning could be, - a period so remote that to finite minds it is essentially eternity, - appeared the Word. โ€œIn the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.โ€ John 1:1. This uncreated Word was the Being, who, in the fulness of time, was made flesh, and dwelt among us. His beginning was not like that of any other being in the universe. It is set forth in the mysterious expressions, โ€œhis [Godโ€™s] only begotten Sonโ€ (John 3:16; 1 John 4:9), โ€œthe only begotten of the Fatherโ€ (John 1:14), and, โ€œI proceeded forth and came from God.โ€ John 8:42. Thus it appears that by some divine impulse or process, not creation, known only to Omniscience, and possible only to Omnipotence, the Son of God appeared. And then the Holy Spirit (by an infirmity of translation called .. the Holy Ghostโ€), the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, the divine afflatus and medium of their power, representative of them both (Psalm 139:7), was in existence also.

LUJ 10.1

NOTES: A divine Sonship

โ€œOf this essential element of Christโ€™s person, this other title, Son of God, though not in such frequent and familiar use as the former [the Son of man], is a direct and clear expression. Appropriated by him without the slightest reserve or moral shock, with the utmost freedom and frankness confessed to him, nor he timidly putting it away from him, it is the one title that embodies in the most explicit way the fact of a divine Sonship.โ€ TDOC 20.4

The revelation between Father and Son

โ€œWe may conceive the Father existing from eternity and possessing infinite powers, simply because he wills so to exist, without any cause external to himself, eternal and infinite and underived; and of the Son existing with the Father from eternity, and possessing to the full the Fatherโ€™s infinite powers, but these received from the Father, existing because the Father wills him so to exist, eternal and infinite and derived. This conception will account for the entire language of the New Testament about the Son of God.โ€ TDOC 20.5

โ€œThe Son is equal to the Father in everything except that which is conveyed by the terms Father and Son. He is equal to the Father in that he shares to the full the Fatherโ€™s existence from eternity and his infinite power and wisdom and love. But inasmuch as the Father possesses these divine attributes from himself alone, whereas the Son possesses them as derived from the Father, in this real sense and in this sense only, the Father is greater than the Son.โ€ TDOC 20.6

โ€œEvidently in an eternal Father and an eternal Son the ideas of older and younger can have no place. As we lift up the conception of son ship out of time into eternity, these elements of it, ever present in human fathers and sons, at once disappear. When they fall away, does any conception essential to our idea of son ship remain? Yes; there still remains the chief idea, viz., personal existence and powers derived from another person. And this idea is plainly embodied in John 5:26, and in other express assertions from the lips of Christ describing his own relation to God.โ€ TDOC 20.7

God forbears for a time the full execution of the sentence of death pronounced upon man. Satan flattered himself that he had forever broken the link between Heaven and earth. But in this he was greatly mistaken and disappointed. The Father had given over the world into the hands of his Son for him to redeem from the curse and the disgrace of Adam's failure and fall. Through Christ alone can man now find access to God. And through Christ alone will the Lord hold communication with man. RH Feb.24, 1874.30

In all these revelations of the divine presence the glory of God was manifested through Christ. Not alone at the Saviour's advent, but through all the ages after the Fall and the promise of redemption, โ€œGod was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself.โ€ 2 Corinthians 5:19. Christ was the foundation and center of the sacrificial system in both the patriarchal and the Jewish age. Since the sin of our first parents there has been no direct communication between God and man. The Father has given the world into the hands of Christ, that through His mediatorial work He may redeem man and vindicate the authority and holiness of the law of God. All the communion between heaven and the fallen race has been through Christ. It was the Son of God that gave to our first parents the promise of redemption. It was He who revealed Himself to the patriarchs. Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses understood the gospel. They looked for salvation through man's Substitute and Surety. These holy men of old held communion with the Saviour who was to come to our world in human flesh; and some of them talked with Christ and heavenly angels face to face.

PP 366.1

Taking humanity upon Him, Christ came to be one with humanity, and at the same time to reveal our heavenly Father to sinful human beings. He who had been in the presence of the Father from the beginning, He who was the express image of the invisible God, was alone able to reveal the character of the Deity to mankind. He was in all things made like unto His brethren. He became flesh even as we are. He was hungry and thirsty and weary. He was sustained by food and refreshed by sleep. He shared the lot of men; yet He was the blameless Son of God. He was a stranger and sojourner on the earthโ€”in the world, but not of the world; tempted and tried as men and women today are tempted and tried, yet living a life free from sin. Tender, compassionate, sympathetic, ever considerate of others, He represented the character of God, and was constantly engaged in service for God and man.

MH 422.2

Christian unity then is nothing less and nothing else than the divine unity itself, as that unity is in the very Godhead. The unity of the Godhead is the unity of Spirit in the Spirit; for the Godhead is only Spirit. And all who โ€œhave been made to drink into this one Spirit,โ€ of the โ€œone Lord,โ€ through the โ€œone faithโ€ of the one Christ, and of the โ€œone God and Father of all,โ€ and are possessed of this โ€œone Spirit,โ€ and โ€œliveโ€ and โ€œwalkโ€ โ€œin the Spirit,โ€œโ€”all these are one in Him and with Him in the very โ€œunity of the Spirit,โ€ which is the divine unity itself. MEDM January 20, 1909, page 55.2

This is further shown in the words of the Scripture defining Christian Fellowship: โ€œThat which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.... This the is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness we lie and do not the truth; but if we walk in the Light as he is in the light we have fellowship one with another.โ€ 1 John 1:3-7. MEDM January 20, 1909, page 55.3

By this Scripture it is plain that Christian fellowship is not primarily fellowship with one another; but fellowship with the Father and with the Son; and then fellowship with one another as the consequence of this fellowship with the Father and the Son. It is only when Christians โ€œwalk in the light as He is in the light,โ€ that โ€œwe have fellowship one with another.โ€ That Light is God. Walking in the Light is walking in God. Thus we have fellowship with him; and having fellowship with him we have it with one another. And this Life and Light is โ€œdeclared,โ€ so that, having the Life and walking in the Light, we may have fellowship with him; and this in order that we may have fellowship with those whose โ€œfellowship is,โ€ truly and primarily, โ€œwith the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.โ€ MEDM January 20, 1909, page 55.4

That and that alone is Christian unity. And all so-called unity of federation, confederation, organization, and association, accomplished even by Christians, is of only human contrivance, is only a hollow shame, is a sheer counterfeit, and never Christian unity at all. MEDM January 20, 1909, page 55.5

All who are of this unity are one. They are one already by the very virtue of the divine unity itself; and they need no federations, confederations, organizations nor associations in order that they may be one. They are all one already; and all such contrivances as these are only the open confession that they have not the real unity of the Spirit and in the Spiritโ€”the divine unity; and they must go about to supply the lack by construing a mere human, political and worldly โ€œunity.โ€ MEDM January 20, 1909, page 55.6

All who are of this true, this divine, unity are one. They do not have to feel around to see whether it is so. It is so already, and they know it; they know it by the Spirit of Him in whom alone the unity is found. And among all these โ€œThere is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesusโ€; โ€œthere is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free; but Christ is all, and in all;โ€ and โ€œthe one God the Father of all is over and through all and in you all;โ€ with โ€œthe Son also himself subjectโ€ unto God even the Father, โ€œthat God may be all in all.โ€ 1 Corinthians 15:28. MEDM January 20, 1909, page 55.7

That is Christian unity and nothing else is. And this is only the revelation of โ€œthe mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which He hath purposed in Himself; that in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in One all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are in earth; even in him.โ€ Ephesians 1:9, 10. MEDM January 20, 1909, page 56.1

This Same Jesusโ€”Christ had ascended to heaven in the form of humanity. The disciples had beheld the cloud receive Him. The same Jesus who had walked and talked and prayed with them; who had broken bread with them; who had been with them in their boats on the lake; and who had that very day toiled with them up the ascent of Olivetโ€”the same ๐‰๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ก๐š๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐ ๐จ๐ง๐ž ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐‡๐ข๐ฌ ๐…๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ'๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ž. By His life and His death, Christ has achieved even more than recovery from the ruin wrought through sin. It was Satanโ€™s purpose to bring about an eternal separation between God and mankind; but in Christ we become more closely united to God than if we had never fallen. In taking our nature, the Saviour has bound Himself to humanity by a tie that is never to be broken. Through the eternal ages He is linked with us. โ€œGod so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son.โ€ (John 3:16.) He gave Him not only to bear our sins, and to die as our sacrifice; He gave Him to the fallen race. To assure us of His immutable counsel of peace, God gave His only-begotten Son to become one of the human family, forever to retain His human nature. This is the pledge that God will fulfill His word. . . . God has adopted human nature in the person of His Son, and has carried the same into the highest heaven. . . . The I AM is the Daysman between God and humanity, laying His hand upon both. He who is โ€œholy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners,โ€ is not ashamed to call us brethren. (Hebrews 7:26; 2:11.) In Christ the family of earth and the family of heaven are bound together. Christ glorified is our brother.
